Wavorly went to her favorite spot on the stair landing. Bow Comeback thought it was a good idea and made a place for herself. Wavorly was not impressed.

Making the rounds
Bow Comeback is an equal opportunity love bug.
She made sure all four humans in the room had repeated opportunities to pet and love her. She made rounds between all of them, dividing up her time so that no one missed out on an opportunity to let her know how much they want to be with her.
She is very considerate that way.

Hanging out
Bow Comeback has been spending most of her time upstairs in the office. We have been feeding her up there as well as she seems to be more relaxed on her own.
On Sunday she decided to spend a lot of time with us downstairs. She will stand about 2 inches away from someone waiting for them to stroke her. She is very tolerant of handling, even tolerating having human faces next to hers.
A possible name for her might be Shadow, as she tends to shadow me around the house, always wanting to be where I am. If I was busy doing something she would go from one person in the room to the next person, waiting patiently until they gave her attention.
She even spent some time napping next to me and the other greyhounds, getting her belly rubbed. She is certainly a love bug.

Squee! A squirrel.
Bow does very well on her walks. She does a perfect heel to the left side with a very loose leash. She really seems to enjoy them, too. Especially in our park which is has a very high SDF (squirrel density factor).
Squirrel! Once she sees them she does a little dance, makes a tiny squeal or two, backs up and then charges toward her pray. Once she climbed the tree about 10 feet to get to the squirrel. She is very determined that she will get one.
When we got home a squirrel was walking along the top of our 8 foot stockade fence in the back yard. Bow took off after it, and I thought she might be able to jump the fence. She got high enough to get her head over the top of it!

Company
Bow Comeback's second day was much quieter. It started out with a lovely walk in the neighborhood park. She met Paula, a crossing guard who always has a treat or two for the dogs who stop by to say "Hi!" Bow walked very well with Rio, but found it a bit hard to keep pace with him for a long walk.
She spent most of the day resting upstairs in her spot in the office. Only once in the evening did she spend a half hour with the rest of us on the first floor. In the afternoon we had a small nap together.
She met our next door neighbor, Dave, and would have bolted out of the front door if she were given the chance. We are going to have to be very careful opening that door. We also had Grant's parents come visit for the weekend. Bow made sure to say hello to everyone and give them a chance to pet her.
We also left her alone with Rio & Wavorly when we went out for dinner. She seemed to do fine. I suspect Bow spent most of the time on the second floor.
She really enjoyed her evening walk. She took the lead up front for most of the walk. She is so delightful on leash. She stayed by my side in a perfect "heel" with a very loose leash. She didn't seem too interested in the other dogs we passed on the walk but found the kids playing basketball very interesting.
Right now she is sleeping behind me.

Bow thinks my bed is hers
I know my bed is a comfy spot, but dogs are not allowed on it. Just this one day. She looks so happy here.
Bow finds a cool spot in the dirt
She settles for a moment in the back yard before bouncing up and exploring.
Introductions
Today we added Bow Comeback to our family as a foster greyhound. From the start this lovely 8 year old retired brood dog impressed us with how well she is fitting into family life.
She jumped into and out of our car with no problems and settled down on the ride home. She met our resident greyhounds, Rio (10 male) and Wavorly (4 female)and submitted to the obligatory inspection.
Bow Comeback was a perpetual motion dog for the first few hours at the house. Everything was thoroughly inspected. She would settle for a minute and then be up and moving around.
We were delighted to see that she climbed up and down our steep staircase right off the bat. As a matter of fact she made about 20 trips up and down the stairs, showing off her skills. She is very nimble on them and looks like she has been climbing stairs all of her life.
She spent most of the day quietly on our bed, which is a no no in our house. I cut her a bit of slack since she was content to be there for the moment. When my husband got home we blockaded the bedroom. Bow opted to make a spot for herself in our office area on the second floor and spent all of her free time resting there.
We also went for an evening walk in the park. Bow amazed us by walking as if she had been on walks in the park all of her life. She was not spooked by the sounds of the buses, trains and children. She took it all in and kept a pretty brisk pace going. She looked like she was enjoying herself. She got very excited by the squirrels. It looked like she couldn't contain her excitement. Her ears perked up, she would back up as if she wanted to spring forward in a full run at the squirrels. She hasn't figured out that they run up trees yet.
When Bow is up and about she likes to be right up next to me. She loves to be petted and is a real love bug. She will make a very loving companion for someone.
One thing to note is that she is thunder-phobic. We had a small storm pass by and she was panting, pacing and trembling during it. I tried giving her peanut butter to distract her, but so far she is not very food focused. I just spent time with her, stroking her and speaking softly until the rain had passed.
She has been very obedient in coming when we ask her to come. She is learning the "touch" command (she has to touch our hand before getting a treat) pretty quickly.
My initial impressions of Bow Comeback
- sweet tempered, loving companion
- very intelligent, learns things quickly
- doesn't mind spending time by herself on the second floor
- loves to take walks and go for rides in the car
- tolerates handling very well
We are looking forward to watching her personality develop.
